En route we visit Caesarea, site of Herod’s Palace, home of Cornelius and where Paul was brought to trial. Stop off at Haifa along the way with its magnificent view over the Harbour and then head north to experience the beautiful grottoes in the cliff face at Rosh Hanikra. Overnight in Acco (D)

Today we spend the morning in Acco, a UNESCO world heritage site because of the amazing Crusader underground city that is slowly being revealed. Leaving this very colourful and authentic market and fishing port we head to Mt Carmel and Muhraqa, where Elijah called down fire from Heaven to defeat the prophets of Baal. We continue and pass through the Megiddo Valley, the large plain where the final battle of Armageddon is prophesied to take place. Tel Megiddo is our next stop. Our journey then takes us to Nazareth where Jesus grew to manhood, visiting the Church of Annunciation and spend time at Nazareth Village a recreation of village lifestyle during the time of Jesus and so experiencing the Nazareth that Jesus knew! From there we will visit the Mount of the Precipice where Jesus was driven by the crowd. Continuing on, and passing Cana, we round the crest of a hill where the SEA OF GALILEE unfolds in a breathtaking panoramic scene before our eyes. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

Today we explore this Biblically historical area of Galilee. Our special traditional sailing vessel will take us across the Sea of Galilee where Jesus walked on the water, stopping in the middle for a time of reflection and worship. We disembark at Nof Ginnosar, a kibbutz located on the shores of the Galilee, where we will see the remains of a boat from the time of Jesus. Arriving later to Capernaum, the city of Jesus, we visit the ruins of the synagogue where Jesus performed many miracles and see the new excavations of Peter’s house. We will visit St Peters Primacy Church, at the site where Jesus prepared breakfast for the disciples after the Resurrection, then go to Magdala, Chorazin and Tabgha, where Jesus multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed the multitudes and later ascend to the top of the Mount of Beatitudes, where we will read and reflect on the Sermon on the Mount. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

After breakfast, we travel to the Golan Heights with Mt. Hermon in the background. We will explore Tel Dan and see the remains of Jeroboam’s pagan altar, then plan to have lunch at Kfar Bloom. We journey on to Banias, and visit Caesarea Philippi, where Peter confessed his faith in Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” We finish our day on the Golan Heights overlooking the nation of Syria. Overnight Galilee. (B-D)

We continue towards the Dead Sea stopping at Qumran where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered in 1947. We arrive in Masada and ascend by cable car to Herod’s magnificent summer palace and fortress, the site of the last heroic 3-year stand of 960 Jewish defenders against the Roman Empire. From its heights we enjoy tremendous views of Jordan and the Dead Sea. After a ‘float’ in the Dead Sea we check into our hotel for a well-deserved rest. Overnight Dead Sea (B-D)

Today we travel west to Arad visiting the very moving “Fountain of Tears” before heading to Beersheba to see the WW1 British War Cemetery where Australian, New Zealand and British soldiers lay at rest together, Tel Saba and Chauvel’s Hill from where we can view the plain over which the 800 Australian Light Horsemen rode into history with their famous charge in 1917 and the Biblical site of Abraham’s Well. The Herodian Tunnel is open for us to explore, and a scale model of the Temple Mount during the time of Herod is the highlight of our underground visit.  Walk to Mt Zion and the location of the Upper Room where we will reflect on the events of the Last Supper and the birth of the Church.
